Message > Circumventing marriage laws
It was brought to my attention this last weekend that a gay guy I know is actually married -- to a lesbian. It works out: they were friends, they both knew they likely wouldn't be getting married, but they both get to have the benefits of being married such as lower car insurance, taxes (depends on your income level, the break-even point is somewhere around $100k/year), and so forth.

For those expecting that by restricting marriage to man-and-wife situations you'll get some sort of normalcy, you just get more oddity. People who barely see each other are married for the benefits, they still do the things you don't approve of, and the institution of marriage (because institutions should be protected for the sake of protecting them) is being "abused" (at least according to some.)

So really, what's the point again?
